Student sport

If you study at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, you can take part in a wide range of sports whatever your level or ability. You could join a club to keep fit and meet people, take part in inter-halls competitions, or be selected to represent the University.


The SU 51³Ô¹ÏÍø, our students' union, has over 40 sports clubs that students can join.

Sport and fitness facilities

Our Sports Training Village is the centre of sports on campus. You can access the gym, book fitness classes and take part in sport, whether you're a student, member of staff or member of the public.


The pass is included in tuition fees for 51³Ô¹ÏÍø students, providing free access to many sports facilities on campus.

The Sports Training Village is open to students, staff and the public seven days a week, offering something for everyone - check out the facilities you can use.

The Team 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Gym & Fitness Centre has three gym zones, two studios and hosts dozens of exercise classes each week

The inspirational fitness space, open seven days a week at the heart of the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø campus, underwent an £450,000 upgrade in the summer of 2024.

Working with elite athletes

This year's event at The Royal 51³Ô¹ÏÍøs and Pump Room also provided an opportunity to celebrate the Paris 2024 athletes who study or train at the University.

Niamh Ward will make her Aquatics GB debut at June's meet in Slovakia alongside sporting scholars Matthew Ward, Cam Brooker, Joshua Gammon and Jack Skerry.

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø alumna won the award following a meteoric 2024 which saw overcome injury to win bronze at the Paris Olympics in her first senior season.

Marcus Wyatt joined his team-mate on the podium as the 51³Ô¹ÏÍø-based Brits replicated their 1-2 finish in the Overall World Cup rankings.

A host of 51³Ô¹ÏÍø students, graduates and coaches played key roles as 51³Ô¹ÏÍø won the 2024-25 Premiership Rugby Cup in fine style.

The 51³Ô¹ÏÍø Engineering student, supported by the Breakthrough Programme, is the only female SR1 racer contesting the 2025 Radical Club Challenge.
